Bound in green cloth boards, a little shaken, pages clean and fresh, a very good copy. Bookplate of the Molteno Institute for Research in Parasitology, from the library of Sir Arthur Shipley (Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge and renowned parasitologist). Large-format doctoral dissertation on the developmental history of parasitic trematode worms. The final leaf gives a brief biography of the author, Baron la Valette Saint George (1831-1910, developmental biologist). The large plates illustrate the life stages of several trematode worms, as well as details of the scoleces with which they attach to their hosts. Copies have been located in the UK at Imperial College and the Natural History Museum. An internet search through scholarly references shows that the work is not as infrequently cited as one might think. PKM 191  £55
